Die US-amerikanische Band Nine Inch Nails (NIN) veröffentlicht dieser Tage ihr neues Album “Ghosts I-IV” unter einer Remix-freundlichen Lizenz. Der Creative Commons -Non-Commerical-Share-Alike Lizenz, was bedeutet, dass das Album nicht nur frei kopiert werden darf, sondern dass es im nicht-kommerziellen Kontext  frei verändert, remixed und gesampelt werden darft, solange die daraus entstehenden Werke wiederum unter der gleichen Lizenz veröffentlicht werden.

Ein weiteres Beispiel, wie sich, oftmals ohne oder gegen die grösseren Labels, sich die Musikindustrie zu verändern beginnt. In ihrem FAQ schreiben NIN dazu:
